Hey Mama, weight loss pills aren’t the long-term solution you’re looking for
Mom life is hectic, exhausting and overwhelming. Trying to be “healthy” on top of all that motherhood brings sounds extremely daunting, and I know that you don’t think you have the time to make the changes that you need to in order to lose weight and feel good about yourself. Which makes weight loss pills incredibly tempting.
You can just take a magic pill and you will drop pounds, it sounds like the perfect solution, but let me tell you, mama, it’s not. Weight loss pills aren’t the solution to feeling good about yourself. Let’s chat about why you don’t want to use diet pills to lose weight and what will work.
First, weight loss pills don’t work long term
Weight loss pills aren’t a good solution because they simply aren’t sustainable. You can’t take a pill to suppress your appetite forever. The moment you stop taking weight loss pills you’ll gain the weight right back.
Once you stop with the pills you’ll go back to old habits. You’ll overeat or eat foods that aren’t nourishing your body and you’ll be right back where you started.
Eventually, you have to learn how to make healthier choices. Changing your behavior is the only way to see long-term results. To lose the weight and keep it off.
Weight loss pills have serious side effects
Another reason diet pills don’t work long-term is because they are not good for you - so bad for you!
Diet pills have been recalled and banned because of side effects such as:
Increased heart rate
High blood pressure
Agitation
Diarrhea
Sleeplessness
Kidney problems
Liver damage
Rectal bleeding
The FDA does not regulate weight loss pills or supplements, it’s the manufacturer's responsibility to make sure that their products are safe. Obviously, not all companies comply with this rule.
You should only take weight loss pills if you’ve cleared it with your doctor. There are other - healthier - ways to lose weight.
Weight loss pills can prevent you from getting the nutrients you need
I know that fats and carbs have been vilified by the weight loss industry, but there is a reason that we eat - because we need them! Weight loss pills work usually work in one of three ways, one of those ways is by blocking the absorption of fats.
It sounds good, right? Wrong. Fats play an important part in our diets. Fat keeps you full which means you’re less likely to overeat. Fats nourish fatty tissues like your eyes, brain, and cell membranes. Fats even contribute to your labido! Fats are important to a healthy lifestyle - don’t try to block them out!
Instead of using weight loss pill, eat healthy fats. It’s not hard to determine which fats are healthy and which are unhealthy! Healthy fats come from whole foods and unhealthy fats are processed.
That being said, you should practice eating the right amount of fats to maintain a healthy diet. You don’t need more than 4 servings of fats a day. So you can do 1-2 servings at each meal. A serving should be the size of your thumb.
A flexible diet will work long-term
Instead of taking a short-cut, you need to learn how to use food to fuel your body! Flexible dieting isn’t actually a diet; it’s a lifestyle change. It’s all about learning to eat foods that nourish your body and making room for treats too.
One of the reasons I love flexible dieting is that it doesn’t restrict you from any foods! If you want chocolate cake, you can eat chocolate cake! Sure, you don’t need cake in order to physically survive, but it makes you happy and helps you survive mentally, so let’s eat a slice! And let’s not beat ourselves up about it.
You will lose weight with flexible dieting, but better yet, you’ll have a new skill set to help you and your family live healthier, happier, longer lives together.
If you are tired of dieting and losing the same five pounds, then schedule a free discovery call with me. I can help you find a lifestyle change that will help you meet your goals and stick to them - forever.
