How to Simplify Your Life and Focus on What Really Matters

Spring is in full force here in Arizona and I am preparing for school to end and my kids to be home with me for the summer. Things start to get pretty crazy when I try to combine my work schedule with entertaining my kids all summer. During this busy time, things that I don't really care about somehow manage to take over my life. I hate it because what I want gets pushed aside for what seems to be important in the moment. It takes a lot of work, but if you can simplify your life, you can begin to shift your focus to what actually matters to you.

Simplifying your life can pertain to a lot of different areas, but I want to talk to you about how you can set aside the little things you do every day and make your relationships the priority in your life.

Determine what is MOST important to you and get rid of the rest

If you want to be happy, then you have to determine what is most important to you and you have to prioritize that above everything else. This advice applies to every aspect of your life, so use it in every aspect, even if I don't mention it here today!

I've decided that what matters most to me is spending quality time with my family, nurturing my relationships and improving my physical and mental health. In order to focus on these things, I only say yes to activities that will help me focus on my goals. Which means I have to cut out the things that distract me from my goals.

Saying no to opportunities, even if they aren't right for you, can be hard to do. I know so many women who struggle with saying no, but it's a skill we have to learn in order to live happier, healthier lives.

What can you outsource to help simplify your life?

In order to focus on what is important, I outsource tasks that don't absolutely have to be done by me. This can mean that you have other members of your family take over, or you can use businesses to help you outsource the tasks you don't have time to do.

Here are a few ideas of things you can outsource in your life.

  • Cleaning

  • Home management

  • Grocery shopping

  • Meal planning and preparation

  • Yard Work

If any of these things bring you joy, then don't outsource them! The point of simplifying your life is to outsource what doesn't bring you joy.

If you're looking to outsource your grocery shopping, I like using places like Shipt and Clicklist to outsource mine! There are also countless online companies who will help with meal prep. I’m sure you can think of a few!

You can and should let it all go

If you like to be in control of everything, outsourcing tasks can be stressful. But I want you to know that it will be ok. If you can let it go, then you will be happier and  be able to spend more time on the things that fill you up

I promise, that if you turn your focus on nurturing what's most important to you, over time those little details won't matter to you anymore. You'll be much happier focusing on the important stuff.
